Frank Davis is Director of the La Kretz Research Center at Sedgwick Reserve, Executive Director of the Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) Network Office, and is a Distinguished Professor of Environmental Science and Management. He holds a BA in Biology from Williams College and a PhD in Geography and Environmental Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University. He has been a professor at UC Santa Barbara since 1983.
Professor Davis uses remote sensing and GIS to analyze the distribution and management of wild species and ecosystems. His research focuses on the landscape ecology of California plant communities, climate change effects on plant species distributions, the design of protected-area networks, and forest and rangeland management.
