I am a PhD student advised by Prof. Kathy Baylis. I earned my 5 years Integrated Master degree in Geoinformatics from Central University of Jharkhand, India. Before starting my doctoral research at UCSB, I worked with the Indian Institute for Human Settlements on various practice and research projects. I enjoy socializing, exploring new places and food, and amateur photography.
My doctoral research focuses on investigating the impacts of extreme weather events on agriculture, and human and economic development in India using spatial data science, machine learning and econometrics.
In the past I have worked on developing new methods for urban spatial analysis including street network analysis, building height mapping, delineating homogeneous neighborhoods, etc. In addition, I have also worked on generating gridded population datasets and flood mapping at scale. The projects that I actively contributed to, were funded by Group on Earth Observations (GEO), Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft and Google. When possible, I try to develop open-source tools and publish blogs around spatial analysis.
