Join us on Thursday, January 11th for the Jack and Laura Dangermond Lecture with guest speaker Dr. Karen Seto: "Global Urbanization: Problem or Panacea for the Planet?"

Karen Seto is the Frederick C. Hixon Professor of Geography and Urbanization Science at Yale University. She is one of the world's leading experts on how urbanization will affect the planet. A geographer and urbanization scientist, she is an expert in satellite remote sensing analysis, and has pioneered methods to reconstruct historical urban land-use and developed the first global forecast of urban land expansion. She is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering, the Council on Foreign Relations, and a Foreign Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. She holds a PhD in Geography from Boston University.
