The Department of Geography at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary lecturers to teach GEOG 5, GEOG 149 and any Summer 2022 classes that might arise in Geography for upcoming openings. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies, depending on the needs of the department. Positions and percentage times may vary. The salary is based on UC's salary scales and dependent upon qualifications. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship.

Main duties include teaching upper-division and lower-division courses. The candidate should be interested and experienced in teaching in lab and lecturer-oriented classes.

The University/Department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching and service as appropriate to the position.

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Two years of teaching experience in any area of Geography and all requirements for the PhD except for dissertation to be completed at time of application.

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

PhD in Geography or related field (required at the time Spring 2022 quarter begins on March 28, 2022).

Preferred qualifications

Positive teaching evaluations with average or above average scores and experience teaching in one or more areas of physical or human geography or geographic information science.
