We have established a rate list for using the infrastructure of the UCSB Cosmogenic RadioNuclide (CRN) Target Preparation Facility (PDF). The rates are for small to moderately-sized samples (up to ~50g of pure Quartz) and they are intended for visiting graduate students and postdoctoral researchers - currently, we do not offer sample preparation services.
We have a lengthy and detailed description of how we process samples (view PDF). In addition, there is an Excel Spreadsheets that guides you through the steps and allows to record helpful information while processing samples (download XLS). This spreadsheet includes worksheets that can be used to determine the amount of sample material needed to start the chemical digestion steps. Most of these worksheets are self explanatory.
During the chemical digestion and ion-exchange column runs, we have several helpful Excel Spreadsheets (Fe-column, Be-column, Al-column).
There is a short PDF describing the preparation and mixing of acids used during the chemical processing steps.
If you have to mix your own ICP control solutions, this Excel spreadsheet may serve you well.

TRMM Tropical Rainfall Measurement Mission
The Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) is a joint mission between NASA and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) designed to monitor and study tropical rainfall. Orbital and gridded TRMM data can be downloaded here. Please see this for updated information.
I have processed the data product 2B31, a combined Precipitation Radar (PR) / TRMM Microwave Imager (TMI) rain-rate product with path-integrated attenuation at 4 km horizontal and 250 m vertical resolutions for the Andes of South America and the Himalaya. These data were integrated over the past 10 years (1998 to 2007) based on more than 50'000 TRMM orbits. The rainfall estimates were calibrated with ground-control stations derived from local and global gauge stations. In addition, I have analyzed the product 3B42 that combines observations from several satellite products for Andes and Amazon Basin. The data are in a lower spatial, but higher temporal resolution with 3-hour average rainfall rate estimates.
There is a compilation of several topographic and climatic datasets available in a GoogleEarth KML file. These data include varius radii of relief, mean annual rainfall amounts, and specific stream power based on discharge derived from TRMM data. Ask me about the data if you are interested in finding out more. Also, if you haven't done so yet, you should install GoogleEarth on your computer.
TLS Terrestrial Laser Scanner
We use a terrestrial Laser Scanner (Riegl Z420i) with 10-megapixel Nikon D300 camera. This device has a measurement range of 2 - 1000m and an accuracy of 8 to 10 mm.
During the past years, we have performed several scans in Southern California as part of our ongoing research. Hillshade views of the 20 to 25-cm DEMs can be viewed in Google Earth: Sedgwick Reserve, Santa Cruz Island (Pozo Catchment), and Parma Park (area burned during the 2008 Tea Fire).
