UC Santa Barbara Geography / Undergraduates / Mentorships

If you are an undergraduate majoring in science, you should consider finding a graduate student mentor to talk to and/or work with. Graduate student mentors are volunteers who are glad to discuss their areas of interest and research, provide options for gaining research experience, and help undergraduates with everything from applying for fellowships to dealing with the graduate school application process. If you'd like to talk to a graduate student in a department or field that interests you, http://ucsbmentorfinder.blogspot.com provides a list of volunteer mentors, along with a description of their particular areas of interest. New mentors are constantly added to the list. The web site is maintained by WiSE (Women in Science and Engineering), and it is open to anyone at UCSB. If you are interested, contact the Moderator of the site at cano@lifesci.ucsb.edu.
