Honors:
Reg, our Chair from 1980 to 1984, is famous as a pioneer in the field of Behavioral Geography and, more recently, the field of Disabilities Geography. He has an Honorary Ph.D. from Göteborg University, Sweden and an Honorary LL.D.from Simon Fraser University, Canada. Among his many honors are election as the President of the AAG, as a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Science, as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and as a Guggenheim Fellow. He was selected as a 2005-06 Outstanding Graduate Mentor by the UCSB Academic Senate. Reg also won the International Geographers Gold Medal from the Institute of Australian Geographers, Academic Honors from the AAG, the Grosvenor Medal for Geographic Education, and Lifetime Achievement Honors from the AAG.
