Smart Authorization Keycard access to select labs
Lab access is provided via the UCSB-standardized electronic keycard access. If you are enrolled in a Geography course, or are working directly for the Geography Department, you can request after-hours access by submitting a completed Access Request Form to the UCSB Police Department at Room 105 in Building 300 between South Hall and the trailers Monday through Friday from 8:30-4:30 (including lunch). Access Request Forms must be signed by Mo Lovegreen, the Geography Department's MSO, located in Ellison 1841. The cost of the access card is $15, a one-time fee, and is valid for two years for students, and can be renewed at no cost. Keycards must be returned to the MSO of the Geography Department, or Campus Police once students are no longer enrolled in classes at UCSB.
Do you need access to the Star Lab? The Campus Police Annex in Building 300 facilitates the issuance of security access cards.
Procedure for obtaining Security Access Cards
- Take the correct number of security access forms to your first class, disseminate them, and have the students take a moment to fill them out and return them to you before class ends.
- After class, give them directly to Mo Lovegreen (or put them in her mail box) with a note stating which class they are for (so she authorize them for the correct lab access). Mo will finish filling them out, copy them, update the security access log, and return them to the correct faculty member/TA so they can be disseminated at the second class.
- The students will then need to take the form, along with a photo ID to trailer 300 (located by the old pool) Monday through Friday from 8:30-4:30 (including lunch). They will pay the $15.00 fee and get the card while they are there.
