Notes

With another round of budget cuts this year, we have had to reduce our staffing levels and no longer have a full-time undergraduate assistant.

In order to continue to serve you well, we are in the process of training four faculty advisors (Helen Couclelis, Jennifer King, Dan Montello, and Stuart Sweeney) who will help guide you through our program. We still have a half-time staff person (Kathy Davis) to support the undergraduate program. We anticipate some changes as we improve the process and procedures over the next few months and greatly appreciate your patience while we work out the bugs.

A few things to note:

  • Each of the four faculty advisors will hold regular walk-in office hours 3 hours per week, and be available for another 2 hours per week by appointment.
  • To make an appointment with your advisor, please email them. Each faculty advisor will manage their own calendar and book their own appointments. If you need immediate assistance, we encourage you to visit the L&S advising staff on a walk-in basis on the first floor of Cheadle Hall (room 1117) M-F, 8-12 and 1-4.
  • When you contact your faculty advisor via email, you should expect a response back within 5 working days.
  • To help make your advising go smoother, we'd like you to fill out the form below before meeting with your advisor (select the appropriate one for you: the BA, the BA w/GIS, or the BS). Bring this form with you when you meet with your advisor.
  • How is it going? In order for Geography to improve its advising arrangements, we need your feedback. In January we will post an Undergraduate Advisement survey here to help us assess how we are doing. Please be sure to check this page Winter quarter and give us your advice on what we can improve.
