APCG Santa Barbara will continue as planned

Dear APCG member and Meeting registrant

On behalf of the Program Committee for APCG 2001 and Roger W. Pearson, President of Association of Pacific Coast Geographers, please be assured that the meeting in Santa Barbara (12 - 15 September) will continue as
planned. Mindful of the special effort that many of you will make to be here and to the uncertainties that we all face, we have made minor adjustments to the program.

Should you arrive later than expected, it will be possible to reschedule your presentation to Saturday -- these arrangements will be made on site.

The greatest uncertainty is for Thursday field trips. Accordingly, we have cancelled the Santa Cruz Island and Channel Islands trip and the hike into the Santa Ynez Mountains (Mike Goodchild is not expected back from Canada in time to lead this event). Registrants for these trips will be able to transfer to other trips on Thursday monrning (http://www.geog.ucsb.edu/~apcg2001/fieldtrips/ ). Private tour companies in the region also provide options that you may wish to consider, and details will be made available by an email to the registrants of cancelled trips).

We appreciate that many of you are adjusting your travel plans to be here for the meeting. We will do everything possible to make this a successful academic and social occasion, and we look forward to your
continued support of APCG.

Sincerely,

APCG 2001 Program Committee
